I need to send you some pics I took related to Rep. Jean Butterfield being illegally parked (at least it appears that it does0. Let me preface this message by saying, I don’t know if Rep. Butterfield has a legitimate disability or has a legitimate need for a handicap placard. However, based on appearances it appears that she is illegally parked while she was inside of the business.
On February 29, 2020, I found her vehicle parked in a handicap space outside of Staples in Wilson, NC with an invalid placard thrown on her dashboard. I know that she parked there because when I went inside, she was inside of Staples shopping. I know that the placard is invalid because there is no placard number and no expiration (valid until) date shown. In fact, the placard is torn off just below the handicap icon so there is no way to identify who it should belong to nor when the placard expires. This really is not what I would expect of a State representative. It does not set the example that leaders of our state should be setting for their constituents. Further, it makes it more difficult for those who need those spaces to access those spaces if someone is illegally parked there (at least on appearances).
